VW Group to Display Up to Seven Concepts at the Geneva Show

It seems that the VW Group will do just about anything to become the world’s biggest automaker by 2018. After announcing a €51.6 billion (US $70.3 billion) investment plan last November, the Germans also want to showcase their future intentions at the Geneva Motor Show in March, by displaying up to seven concepts.

Walter de Silva, head of the group’s design department, told ANE that the concept lineup will include Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen models, plus “one – if not two” Audis.

Furthermore, the Italdesign Giugiaro design studio, acquired by the automaker last spring, will also present two Volkswagen concept cars.

Seeing this kind of commitment, one has to wonder what exactly has Volkswagen is store for us. With the Golf Mk7 said debut in late 2012 or early 2013, we're inclined to say that it’s too early for a design study and the same goes for the next generation Audi A3, due for a release in the summer of 2012. While the manufacturer did say that it wants to expand its North American SUV lineup, information on the subject is scarce, so we wouldn’t bet on an SUV concept either.

In any case, if you have an opinion on the matter, now is the time to share it with us in the comments section below.

2011 Stasis Engineering Audi R8 5.2 Challenge Extreme Edition

2011-stasis-engineering-audi-R8-5-2-challenge-extreme-edition-turn-in-motionIt’s hard to improve on greatness, so when Stasis Engineering offered us a short drive of its modified Audi R8 Spyder, we were excited and skittish. The last time we debarked from a stock R8 5.2 FSI, we concluded that Audi had improved upon near-perfection. Could Stasis improve the R8 even further, or would its upgrades actually set the car back? We intend to find out.
So now I’m sitting in Stasis’ impeccable show car with Henry Hsu, the company’s director of engineering. When traffic clears, Hsu unhesitatingly double-slaps the R Tronic’s left paddle until a bright “2″ appears on the dash. Revs erupt as the twin oval pipes’ bark turns into a menacing roar. Eaton’s biggest automotive supercharger whines and churns at a maximum 7.5 PSI. Everything blurs. My eyes water. WHOA.
“Your turn,” the engineer says, grinning widely as he checks the car’s digitized vitals.
With 710 supercharged horsepower on tap, this 5.2 FSI Spyder is Stasis’ most powerful 50-state-legal creation, topping the brand’s two factory dealer-installed upgrades. (A milder 552-horsepower Touring Edition is the other.) Tacking on the aptly titled Challenge Extreme Edition badge gives a roots-type TVS 2300 blower with bespoke cooling system, ECU tuning, and a less restrictive, hand-welded 3-inch T-305 stainless steel exhaust. Our tester also sports revised suspension, forged aluminum wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, and Alcon brakes with braided stainless steel lines and stickier pads.
At a crawl, the blown 5.2-liter V-10 corrals a herd of pent-up thrust — 523 pound-feet of torque support the buffed-out equines, much of them available below 5500 rpm. The TIG-welded exhaust grumbles and pops, but doesn’t have an ear-piercing drone. If a Dodge Viper SRT-10 and Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 Super Veloce ever made mechanical love, the result would sound like this. With 185 horsepower and 132 pound-feet over Neckarsulm’s base, this Spyder packs a very poisonous bite.

Audi A7 Sportback concept

Audi A7 Sportback conceptAudi’s latest example of micro-nicheing made its motor show debut here in Paris. Outside, it’s striking how low this car appears to sit (although, at 1420mm high it’s taller than the A5 Sportback by 29 mm), an impression aided by the graceful arc of the beltline front to rear and its low-set intersection with the trailing edge of the trunk. One is drawn to the superb surface transition from fender to C-pillar, the helical detailing within the tail lamps and surface intersections radiused so tightly that they could almost be lead-filled and hand-finished. The stance of the vehicle is without reproach, appearing muscular and exceedingly elegant.
From the front we again had to play a game of guess-the-Audi, but the designers have shown as much restraint as is possible with their aggressive house DRG style. There are, of course, wonderfully intricate headlamp cans which, when specified with LEDs give a vision of a future where cars start to lose their human or animal facial characteristics, gaining something far more bionic instead.
Audi A7 Sportback conceptAudi A7 Sportback conceptAudi A7 Sportback conceptAudi A7 Sportback concept
Inside we find Audi at its predictable best with two surprising caveats. Firstly, while we welcome a return to the discretion of a fully retractable, integrated navigation screen, the chrome appliqué that crosses the IP and screen housing draws unnecessary attention to a surprisingly large gap. Secondly, in the press material Audi constantly references this car against the A8, but in execution and design the A7 is far more A6.
It’s fair to say that the A7 represents Audi at their current best and, unlike the quattro concept, the A7 only pays the subtlest of compliments to the first 100 coupĂ©. The CDN team and many we spoke to felt the car remarkably Italianate for a brand, traditionally at least, so German. With Mercedes appearing increasingly Baroque and BMW returning to their southern European roots, maybe there’s room for Audi to return to the modern G-factor that made it so beguiling in the first place.

2011 Audi TT The Exotic Car

The V6 engine with a 3.2 liter provides a used Audi TT the power to beat up the runway at traffic lights. It also performs with dignity and elegance on highway stretches. You are able to accelerate the power of this car to 247 bhp, which for a street car is intending to slap a smile with stupid expression on your face on heading down the slip road or on the country roads.

The Audi TT is described as a 2+2; rather than a full four seater. That's just as well because the rear seats are sufficient only for very young children or for adults on short journeys.

Detail Interior The 2011 Audi RS5

The first thing you should know is the types of Audi cars that match with your financial situation. Some types of the used Audi cars you can choose are the Audi A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, TT, R8 and Audi Q5. There are also S models and RS models, for S models include the Audi TTS, S3, S4, S5, S6 and Audi S8, whereas for the RS models are the Audi TT RS, RS2, RS4, RS5 and Audi RS6.

All this adds up to an accomplished grand tourer, rather than an out-and-out sports car. The Audi RS5 should see to that when it launches.
It's frustrating, because as a drivers' car, the Audi S5 could easily be a match for the excellent BMW 3 Series Coupe
Running costs aren't far off the faster BMW M3, which although costs £10,000 more new, matches the Audi S5 for fuel consumption (22.8mpg).

First Drive 011 Audi RS5

Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Cadillac, Lexus and Audi are some very popular luxury cars. For the last name maybe that is what you are seeking now. This German car could be the right choice for you. However, maybe you have a problem with your money situation. The most appropriate way might be by buying used Audi cars because you can get the good car with cheap price. But buying a used car is not as easy as you can imagine, there are some things you should know.

2011 Audi RS5 Luxury Car2011 Audi RS5 Luxury Car
There's Audi A4 levels of space in the front, but space in the rear is limited, although this is predicable given its coupe configuration. And there's a 455 litre boot, which is just five litres smaller than that of the BMW 3 Series Touring.
The ride is good; firm, but never uncomfortable and only the biggest bumps cause a fluster in the cabin.
In many ways the Audi S5 is a worthy successor to the original quattro coupe from the 80s. Both are very good, but have flaws. While the quattro was heinously complicated, the S5 just doesn't have the level of driver involvement we'd hoped for.
